Tom Cleverley is confident that his Manchester United career can receive a much-needed boost by the arrival of manager Louis van Gaal.
Cleverley received heavy criticism for his displays last season, resulting in the 24-year-old closing his Twitter account after taking a backlash from frustrated United supporters.
However, the midfielder believes that he can thrive under the former Netherlands coach at Old Trafford and is ready to prove his mettle.
"I watched the manager's Holland team in the World Cup and from that I think I'm going to be his type of player," he is quoted as saying by Goal.com.
"I have to show that in training and, most importantly, games. I think there's a place for me but I have to prove it."
Van Gaal kicked off his reign as the Red Devils thumped Los Angeles Galaxy 7-0 during their pre-season tour of the United States on Thursday.
