Crystal Palace's Kagisho Dikgacoi: 'Action should be taken against divers'

Crystal Palace's Kagisho Dikgacoi backs calls for retrospective action to be taken against players who dive.

Crystal Palace's Kagisho Dikgacoi has become the latest name in football to back calls for retrospective action against divers.

The 28-year-old was at the centre of two incidents involving Ashley Young during the Eagles' 2-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Young was booked for diving over Dikgacoi's leg in the box before eventually winning a penalty from another challenge from the Palace player, who was sent off as a result.

"I agree that there should be a chance to take some action [afterwards]," The Independent quotes Dikgacoi as saying. "This has created a bad vibe after the game because it is making things difficult for the referee.

"I think [Jon Moss] knew that if he had said Young dived, then it would have meant a second yellow card and he would have been sent off. It was a hard position for him to be put in.

"I saw [Young] afterwards but I wasn't going to go and say anything. He was going down too easily during the game and I think everyone knew it."

United manager David Moyes and defender Rio Ferdinand have also spoken out against diving following the controversy surrounding Young.
