Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is among the three nominees for the Premier League's Manager of the Month award for September.

The ex-Ajax boss suffered a disastrous start to life in the hotseat with defeats to Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford, but he has since turned the Red Devils' fortunes around.

After defeating Liverpool and Southampton at the end of August, Man United will enter October with a perfect record of two wins from two Premier League matches in September.

Queen Elizabeth II's death and state funeral meant that Man United only played two top-flight games in September, firstly beating Leicester City 1-0 thanks to Jadon Sancho's strike.

Antony's debut goal and Marcus Rashford's brace then saw the Red Devils inflict a 3-1 defeat upon league leaders Arsenal, seeing Ten Hag's side rise to fifth in the Premier League table.

Ten Hag has now been recognised for his achievements with his first manager of the month nomination, and he is not the only Red Devils representative up for a September award.

Striker Rashford is one of six men up for the Premier League's Player of the Month award, alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Alex Iwobi, Philip Billing, Jacob Ramsey and Kevin De Bruyne.

Joining Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Hojbjerg as a September nominee is Spurs manager Conte, whose side are still within touching distance of league leaders Arsenal after beating Fulham and Leicester City earlier this month.

Spurs - who suffered their first loss of the season in the Champions League to Sporting Lisbon on September 13 - are only one point behind the Gunners, who they can leapfrog with victory in the North London derby on October 1.

During Chelsea's triumphant 2016-17 season, Conte was remarkably named Manager of the Month three times in a row, scooping the award in October, November and December.

The 53-year-old became the first man in history to win three consecutive Premier League Manager of the Month awards six years ago, but Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp have both achieved the feat since.

Finally, stand-in Bournemouth coach Gary O'Neil also earns a nomination alongside Ten Hag and Conte after steadying the ship at the Vitality Stadium following the sacking of Scott Parker.

The 39-year-old has gone unbeaten in his first three games in charge of the newly-promoted Cherries, drawing with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United either side of a 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest.

Bournemouth came from 2-0 down to beat Steve Cooper's side 3-2 at the City Ground on September 3, and they entered the international break four points clear of the relegation zone in 12th place.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta won the award in August after the Gunners' perfect start to the new season, but the 40-year-old has been overlooked this time, despite keeping the North London club at the summit. body check tags ::
