The FA have asked Sir Alex Ferguson to explain comments that he made after his Manchester United side had played out a 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur yesterday afternoon.
Ferguson was particularly critical of linesman Simon Beck, who failed to flag for a penalty after United striker Wayne Rooney had been tripped up by Spurs defender Steven Caulker inside the area.
Following those words, the English governing body have made contact with the United manager and asked him to explain his observations.
If found guilty of misconduct, Ferguson will face either a touchline suspension or a fine. He has been given until 6pm on Thursday to respond.
