Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has insisted that the current squad is capable of retaining their Premier League title.
The centre-back believes that the Red Devils will challenge for top honours with or without fresh faces at Old Trafford, with confidence high in the camp after a pre-season tour of the Far East.
He told Sky Sports News: "We're confident. If we had to go into the season with the players that we've got now, I'd be more than confident and have high hopes of doing well and winning trophies.
"If the manager adds to that and chooses to add to that, then great, but it remains to be seen."
The 34-year-old has a testimonial match to look forward to before the season begins, with United hosting Sevilla in the showpiece friendly on August 9.
