Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted that he has dropped David de Gea for tonight's trip to Newcastle United because of the goalkeeper's recent mistakes.
The young Spaniard was at fault for Blackburn Rovers' winning goal on New Year's Eve, while a number of pundits have claimed that the 21-year-old is a weakness for United this season.
In his place is Danish goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard, who has yet to concede a goal in five Premier League outings this season.
"I think young David made a couple of mistakes the other day," Ferguson told Sky Sports News.
"Anders is more experienced at coming to a place [like Newcastle] so hopefully he'll be okay."
De Gea has made 14 league appearances for United so far.
