Manchester United midfielder Fred has revealed his delight at scoring an "important" goal in Sunday's 1-0 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

The Brazil international netted the only goal of the match at Old Trafford in the 77th minute, lifting the ball into the far corner of the net after a pass from Mason Greenwood.

Man United have now won their last two Premier League games, and Fred said that it was "so important" for the Red Devils to triumph in their first match under the management of Ralf Rangnick.

"It's always good to score in a game, but today we win 1-0 and it's nice that my goal can be so important," Fred told MUTV. "Of course, above all, the most important thing is the win to help the team. It was a good performance, we played very well and kept a clean sheet too.

"With it being the first game with our new coach it is so important for us to keep things moving day after day and be ready for the next game."

Fred has been a key player for the 20-time English champions during the 2021-22 campaign, scoring twice and providing two assists in 16 appearances in all competitions. body check tags ::
