Manchester United chief executive David Gill accepts Manchester City's apology over the 'RIP Fergie' sign carried by Carlos Tevez.

Manchester United chief executive David Gill has accepted Manchester City's apology over the 'RIP Fergie' sign carried by City striker Carlos Tevez.

Tevez was seen displaying the sign during Monday's Premier League title parade, but City moved quickly to issue an apology.

"It was silly and inappropriate but City acted with commendable speed to say sorry," Gill told reporters.

City secured this season's Premier League title on goal difference from rivals United.
