Manchester United defender Phil Jones has insisted that the club's fans have "every right" to boo the team after Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Sunderland at Old Trafford.
Interim manager Ryan Giggs was unable to avoid defeat in his second game in charge as the Black Cats moved away from the relegation zone.
Fans began to leave the ground with 10 minutes left to play, with a small section of supporters booing at the final whistle - which is something that Jones has defended.
Discussing the fans' reaction, Jones said: "Of course they had every right to do that. You can understand that totally, they have had a difficult season. It has not been easy for them, especially here at Old Trafford.
"It's the story of our season isn't it? You win one, but you can't carry the form on. It's disappointing.
"We are up at the top of the table on away form, but the home form, for whatever reason, has not been as good. It's caught us out and that's something next season we really need to nail down and work on."
United, who face Hull City on Tuesday night, currently sit in seventh place in the Premier League table.
