Manchester United's Juan Mata: 'No time for mourning following derby defeat'

Juan Mata says that there is "no time for mourning" following Manchester United's defeat to Manchester City.

Juan Mata has claimed that he and his Manchester United teammates do not have "time for mourning" following their defeat to local rivals Manchester City at the weekend.

Jose Mourinho's side were beaten 2-1 by Pep Guardiola's men at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The result brought an end to United's 100% win record, but Mata has insisted that it is too early to judge how the season will pan out given that only four Premier League games have been played.

"We have suffered the first defeat of the season and, after the initial disappointment, I think there is no time for mourning," Mata wrote in his weekly blog. "On the contrary, it's time to analyse the aspects of our game that we need to improve, and carry on with hope and motivation. It was an important game, but let's be realistic - the season has just started and there is still a long way to go.

"Obviously, the result was painful for us, both for the fans and for the team. Losing a derby is always something tough to take, but I'm sure there are many good moments for us to enjoy in the next few months."

United will now switch their attention to the Europa League as they prepare to take on Feyenoord this Thursday.
