Former Southampton striker Matt Le Tissier believes that Manchester United youngster Adnan Januzaj should not be permitted to play for England.
The 18-year-old could represent the Three Lions in the future, despite being born in Belgium, due to FIFA residency rules.
England midfielder Jack Wilshere claimed yesterday that only English players should represent the Three Lions, which Le Tissier has backed.
"I think the rules have changed too much," Le Tissier told talkSPORT. "It is far too flexible for me.
"You should play for the country you are born in, or where your mum and dad were born. Once you start going beyond those borders, it becomes a bit of a joke."
England are preparing to take on Montenegro and Poland in their final World Cup qualifiers.
