Jesse Lingard: 'Manchester United could have nicked victory'

Jesse Lingard believes that there was only likely to be one winner in Tuesday's league clash between Manchester United and Burnley had an extra 10 minutes been played.

Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard has insisted that his side would have completed their comeback against Burnley had the game lasted "another five or 10 minutes".

The Red Devils recovered from two goals down at half time to snatch a 2-2 draw in Tuesday's Premier League clash, courtesy of a second-half brace from substitute Lingard.

Momentum was on United's side after scoring their second goal in the 91st minute, but time was ultimately against them in the end and they had to settle for a share of the spoils.

Lingard believes that his side were just minutes away from potentially winning the match, however, telling MUTV: "If we had played for another five or 10 minutes, we would have won the game.

"I thought we could nick it towards the end but obviously time ran out and now we look forward to the next game [against Southampton]. We always have that fighting spirit, that never-give-up attitude and we'll see where it gets us."

Lingard has had a hand in 10 league goals this season - as many as in his previous three seasons combined.
