Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has insisted that Mason Mount "will be a very good player" for the 20-time English champions.
The England international struggled to make his mark for the Red Devils during the 2023-24 campaign after a high-profile switch from Chelsea.
Mount struggled with injuries last season, which restricted him to just 20 appearances, and he only managed one goal and one assist for Ten Hag's side.
There has been speculation surrounding the attacker's future this summer, with recent reports claiming that the Red Devils may be willing to let him leave.
However, Mount is set to remain at Old Trafford, and Ten Hag has full confidence that the playmaker will make a big contribution if he can stay clear of injury.
Ten Hag has full confidence in Mount
"You can't judge [his first] season because he was injured. But when he is fit, he will be a very good player for us and we can use him. He's versatile and you need that in a squad," Ten Hag told reporters.
"You need certain types in the squad, like you need the leaders, you need the team players. You need individuals, multi-functional players. And yeah, definitely he is one of those players. He can play in several positions and I'm sure he will help the team."
Mount managed 33 goals and 35 assists in 195 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions ahead of his switch to Old Trafford in the summer of 2023.
The attacker is currently with the Man United squad in the United States and is set to be involved in Saturday evening's pre-season friendly with Arsenal.
Ten Hag looking forward to Arsenal test
"We are very pleased to be here and to bring, I think, top Premier League football to LA. And I think for all the fans it's a great opportunity as we are not often so close because the season doesn't allow us to come over more often," he added.
"But I think this is a great opportunity to to watch two of the best teams in the world. We want to win every game. And Arsenal will have the same approach against us. It's a good test for both clubs, I'm sure both are very eager to win."
Man United have already played twice this summer, losing 1-0 to Rosenborg in their pre-season opener before recording a 2-0 victory over Rangers last weekend.
The Red Devils will face Arsenal, Real Betis and Liverpool in the United States before returning to England to prepare for the Community Shield against Manchester City on August 10. body check tags ::
