Manchester United's Michael Carrick: 'We have a job to do'

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick says that his side must concentrate on their own game during the last ever match at Upton Park tonight.

Michael Carrick has insisted that Manchester United will not get carried away by the sense of occasion when they take on West Ham United this evening.

The encounter will be the East London side's last at Upton Park before they switch to the Olympic Stadium in Stratford during the summer.

It is expected to be an emotional evening, but ex-West Ham midfielder Carrick has stressed that with a place in next season's Champions League at stake, United must focus on the job at hand.

"I've got some great memories there. I can look back and it's nice that I'll be a part of it and nice to say farewell to Upton Park. But at the same time we are going there to do a job and to get the three points," he told MUTV.

"When you go back to your old team for the first time it's strange, especially going back to West Ham where I started and came through the ranks, but after that you just do your job.

"This time it might be a bit different, going back for the very last time, but it still won't take my mind off the game."

The 34-year-old made 136 first-team appearances for the Hammers at the start of his career.
