Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has claimed that Alexis Sanchez will receive boos from opposition fans this season due to the enormous weekly salary that he collects at Old Trafford.
Sanchez joined United from Arsenal last week, with the Chilean moving to the Red Devils in a deal that saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan make the switch to the Gunners.
The 29-year-old made his debut for United against Yeovil Town in the FA Cup last week, and is expected to be in the XI that takes to the field against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
Sanchez should receive a hot reception from the Tottenham fans, but Mourinho has said that all opposition supporters will boo the forward due to the fact that he makes in the region of £350,000 a week after tax.
"He is going to get that kind of reception everywhere. It doesn't matter about the previous rivalry between Spurs and Arsenal. He will get a bit of that everywhere," Mourinho told reporters.
"I don't know if it's true or not — that story of him getting one of the top salaries in Premier League football. To change one big club for another big club, this kind of situation attracts a bit of that – but I don't think he cares.
"He's the kind of player, with all his experience, I think he's used to it. Even in South America, I don't think it's easy to play for Chile in Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay, so I think these guys grew up with a certain level of experiences. I don't think it's a problem for him at all."
Sanchez scored 80 times in 165 appearances for Arsenal before making the move to Old Trafford.
