David Moyes has urged the club's fans to remain calm in his early stages as Manchester United manager.
Moyes took over the Premier League champions earlier this summer after Sir Alex Ferguson stepped down after 26 years in charge.
The Red Devils United begin their title defence with a trip to Swansea City on
August 17, and Moyes wants the supporters to be sensible as he gets to grips with life at Old Trafford.
"It is a big job. It is a new job. It will take time, as it would for anybody else," PA quotes Moyes as saying.
"If you win one game, folk will think you are good. If you lose one, folk will think you are rubbish. You hope there is a little bit of sense and people understand where you are going.
"You change with the level of player you have. You have to think differently about the work you are giving players. Hopefully that would be the way I would continually try to self-improve."
United won their last pre-season game 5-2 against Kitchee.
