Manchester United manager David Moyes has said that nothing could be done to save the pitch at the Hong Kong Stadium, where they will play a pre-season friendly against Kitchee FC on Monday.
The playing surface, which has been battered by heavy rain, was in a bad state during the Premier League Asia trophy games involving Manchester City, Sunderland and Tottenham Hotspur.
"Two teams have to play on it, it is the same for everybody," Moyes told reporters.
"We are used to playing on good surfaces and pitches but there was nothing the people in Hong Kong could do to make the weather any better. It was terrible for three or four days.
"Players can get injured on good pitches as well. We would rather be on a very good surface. That is obvious."
Monday's game is the last of United's tour of Asia.
