David Moyes hits out at Premier League referees for failing to protect youngster Adnan Januzaj during the 3-0 victory over Aston Villa today.

Manchester United manager David Moyes has slammed Premier League officials for not doing enough to protect teenager Adnan Januzaj.

United coasted to a 3-0 victory over Aston Villa this afternoon, with Danny Welbeck netting twice before Tom Cleverley sealed the points early in the second half.

However, the Scot was less than impressed by the Villans' method of combating the teenage Januzaj and claims it is "terrible" that referees fail to afford the youngster adequate protection.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Moyes said: "In every game, I don't know how many tackles there have been on him. That is why I am annoyed with fourth officials and referees. He is definitely not getting protected and before you know it the boy will get a sore one.

"It is terrible what they (the officials) are allowing to go on at the moment. They (opposition players) are queuing up to see who can kick him next. [Matthew] Lowton was booked but there were that many tackles on him from different players.

"It is a recurring theme and it's the referees' job to sort it out. You would hope they would recognise that. Adnan will just get up, walk away and get on with it. That is one of his biggest attributes."

The Red Devils move within 10 points of Arsenal at the summit of the Premier League following the Gunners' 6-3 defeat to Manchester City on Saturday.
