Manchester United striker Michael Owen has revealed that he was "buzzing" after hearing comments that were made about him by his manager Sir Alex Ferguson yesterday.
Ferguson stated that he hoped Owen would return from injury in time to play a part during United's Premier League title chase.
The centre-forward believes that he is not too far away from being fit to feature for the Red Devils and is keen to score a vital goal.
"I was buzzing with the Gaffers words about me yesterday," Owen wrote on Twitter. "I'm of the same mindset. There could be an important goal needed to be scored at some point and I will be prepared should it fall to me!
"Hope I'm fit before but I wouldn't mind making the bench for the City game!!!!"
The 32-year-old joined United on a free transfer from Newcastle United in 2009.
