Paul Scholes pleased by Manchester United display

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes says that the team's performance in their 3-3 draw with Newcastle was much better than their narrow victory over Sheffield United.

Paul Scholes has praised Manchester United's performance during their Premier League clash with Newcastle United despite only managing a draw at St James' Park.

The Red Devils twice blew a lead against the Magpies as Paul Dummett netted a 90th-minute equaliser to rescue a dramatic 3-3 draw for the relegation-threatened hosts.

Scholes had previously been critical of United's 'boring' style, particularly during a recent 1-0 victory over Sheffield United in the FA Cup, but he was much happier with the display this evening despite it not ending in a win.

"[I feel] loads better. To go and watch Manchester United, whether it's home or away, is entertainment, it's goals - whether you concede goals or whether you can score goals," Scholes told BT Sport.

"Tonight that was like watching a Manchester United team. Okay, they didn't win but they should have won, really. [Marouane] Fellaini's header - what a chance to make it 4-2 - and Jesse [Lingard] has had a great chance, and that's just what I expect.

"I expect positive play from Manchester United all the time, whether you're at home or away. Sometimes it's a little bit easier to do it away from home, actually, when a team comes out at you and really has a go like Newcastle did. Now they have to try and transfer this type of form to Old Trafford."

United are now unbeaten in four games in all competitions, although they did drop down to sixth in the Premier League table with today's draw.
