Manchester United's players have reportedly been left confused by Jose Mourinho's tactics after he made six changes to his side for Monday night's 3-0 defeat at home to Tottenham Hotspur.
Among the changes were the inclusions of Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and midfielder Ander Herrera in a makeshift back three, but the match was once again defined by defensive errors as United slumped to their worst start since 1992-93.
Mourinho admitted after the match that he is unsure as to what his best defensive line is, but insisted that his tactics and strategy were not to blame for the defeat.
However, the Daily Star reports that a number of United's players have been left baffled by Mourinho's instructions and have questioned his decision to make so many changes to his side for the Spurs clash.
Mourinho's future at Old Trafford has come under scrutiny since the defeat, with the latest reports suggesting that another loss to Burnley on Saturday could result in him being sacked by the club.
