Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti reportedly rejected an offer from Manchester United to become the club's new manager last week.
The Italian coach has been touted as a possible permanent replacement for David Moyes, but widespread reports claimed that United would struggle to land him.
Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal has been favourite to take the Old Trafford hotseat over the last week or so, but it has been reported that United recently approached Ancelotti.
According to Spanish newspaper El Confidencial, Ancelotti rejected an offer of around £14m to become United boss by telling officials that he is happy at Madrid, who are on course to clinch their 10th European cup after reaching the Champions League final last week.
The publication has also claimed that Ancelotti met with former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson in Paris.
