The Football Association has reportedly added Jose Mourinho to their shortlist of potential new managers.
The current occupant of the position, Roy Hodgson, is contracted until the conclusion of this summer's European Championships.
While it is believed that the governing body is prepared to offer Hodgson fresh terms, that will only be the case if England impress at the tournament.
According to The Sun, should Hodgson end up departing, the FA will be keen to open up discussions with ex-Chelsea boss Mourinho.
However, it has been widely speculated over recent weeks that the Portuguese head coach is in the running to take charge of Manchester United, which may force the organisation to look elsewhere.
Mourinho, 53, revealed yesterday that he is keen to return to work in the summer.
