Manchester United are reportedly planning to lure Pep Guardiola to Old Trafford in 2016, despite current boss Louis van Gaal grooming assistant Ryan Giggs for the role.
The Bayern Munich coach is said to be keen to quit the Allianz Arena club next summer, with Manchester City believed to be fronting the queue for the ex-Barcelona boss.
Van Gaal, 64, recently tipped club icon Giggs to succeed him, after previously expressing plans to retire in 2017, but the Red Devils could move for Guardiola, according to The Mirror.
The Dutchman would still have one year left to run on his contract should Guardiola quit the Bavarians in the summer, and it remains to be seen whether or not United would stick or twist.
The Spaniard has two Champions League titles under his belt - both with Barca - and has led Bayern to two successive Bundesliga crowns.
