Fenerbahce striker Robin van Persie thanks former clubs Arsenal and Manchester United, and insists that there are no hard feelings towards the latter following his move.

New Fenerbahce striker Robin van Persie has insisted that there are "no hard feelings" towards former club Manchester United following his move to Turkey.

The 31-year-old was officially unveiled by the Istanbul club earlier today, having signed a three-year contract to end an 11-year stay in the Premier League.

Van Persie was tipped to be a major part of Louis van Gaal's plans at United when the Dutch manager initially took over last summer, but he refused to criticise his former boss following his Old Trafford exit.

"From my side, there are no hard feelings with how it went. It's part of football, it's part of life," Van Persie told reporters.

"I had a good moment with the players the day before I came to Istanbul so that was special. Then you see that everyone really appreciated my time there, that was important for me.

"I highly appreciate the work of [executive vice-chairman] Ed Woodward. The way he dealt with this transfer is from a high level, it's very classy, he proved he's a true gentlemen in the way he dealt with the whole situation. Ed, if you're listening, thank you!"

Van Persie scored 190 goals in all competitions during his time in England, and the Dutch international also took to Twitter to thank both Arsenal and United for the role they played in his career.

"After 11 great years in the Premier League, I have taken on a new challenge at Fenerbahce...Thank you to all the fans, who have supported me through the years... Thank you Arsenal and thank you Manchester United. Wish you all the best," he wrote.

Van Persie has also vowed to help bring the Turkish title back to Fenerbahce after they missed out to Galatasaray last term.
