Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has revealed that he is thankful for the "faith and support" that England manager Roy Hodgson has given him.
Rooney has missed his club's pre-season campaign through injury while frequently being linked with a move away from Old Trafford.
However, earlier this week, Hodgson selected Rooney in his 25-man England squad for the match with Scotland, and the former Everton frontman has taken to Facebook to reveal that he hopes to play some part in the game.
The 27-year-old said: "Can't wait to join up with the England squad and hopefully play in a competitive match - they always are against Scotland.
"Big thanks to Roy Hodgson for selecting me and showing his faith and support - appreciate it."
Rooney has netted 36 goals in 83 appearances for England.
