Unsettled Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney will play no part in Rio Ferdinand's testimonial at Old Trafford this evening.
The 27-year-old had initially been expected to feature in the match against Sevilla to celebrate Ferdinand's feat of playing for the Red Devils for over a decade.
The Premier League champions confirmed that Rooney has been struggling with a shoulder problem, which put him out of United's friendly 1-1 draw with AIK Fotboll in Sweden earlier this week.
However, a few days later England manager Roy Hodgson included the striker, who is said to be looking for a move away from Old Trafford, in his Three Lions squad to play Scotland next week.
Chelsea have had two bids rejected by United for the wantaway forward.
