Wayne Rooney has admitted that he is not interested in dropping back from his centre-forward role for Manchester United.
The England international was given the position of playmaker by Sir Alex Ferguson last season to accommodate Robin van Persie, but the 27-year-old has insisted that he is not comfortable being shifted.
When asked by FourFourTwo magazine if he relished the role, Rooney said: "No. In the years to come that might be somewhere I could play, but right now, I'm definitely a centre-forward. I'm after more goals."
It is still uncertain whether Rooney will be a United player by the start of the new season, which will be led by new manager David Moyes.
