Louis Saha: 'Radamel Falcao needs time to adapt at Manchester United'

Louis Saha reckons that Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao was caught out by the physicality of the Premier League, which explains his troubles to date.

Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha believes that Radamel Falcao may require a full campaign at the club before he adapts to a new style of play.

The Colombian, who arrived at Old Trafford on an initial season-long loan deal last summer, has scored just four goals in six months for the Red Devils.

Falcao's latest disappointment came on Monday night when he was withdrawn against Preston North End with his side trailing 1-0, although Saha believes that the previously prolific forward will come good with time.

"When you are in a different formation or different management then you have to adapt," BT Sport quotes him as saying. "It could take three months, six months or maybe a year before you understand it. It happens to even the best players.

"It happened to Patrice Evra here. For the first six months he was struggling. He didn't seem to understand the physical nature of the game in England. But he changed into a terrific player.

"Falcao is under pressure because of his contract. As a striker you want to score. When there is that amount of money involved you are under pressure."

Saha scored 42 goals in 124 appearances during his spell at United.
