Paul Scholes questions Ole Gunnar Solskjaer team selection

Paul Scholes admits that he is "surprised" that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not start Paul Pogba and Edinson Cavani against Leeds United on the weekend.

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has questioned Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team selection after the Norwegian left out Paul Pogba and Edinson Cavani.

The Red Devils played out a 0-0 draw with Leeds United on Sunday, giving rivals Manchester City the opportunity to win the Premier League if they win their next two games.

Solskjaer opted to start with Mason Greenwood and Daniel James in front of Pogba and Cavani, which left Scholes "surprised" after Man United failed to score in a match for the first time since March 3.

"Manchester United tried more than I think Leeds did to win the game which you'd expect. I was surprised Pogba didn't start the game, surprised Cavani didn't start the game," he told reporters.

"I get the impression he's [Solskjaer] a little bit happy with that draw. I don't think he should be, not against a Leeds team without probably their best player in Raphinha.

"If it's this time next year and United are going close for the league, it should be used as practice for a run-in where there's big pressure. You need to go to these places and win games."

Man United have a big week ahead as they face Roma next in the Europa League semi-final, and play rivals Liverpool in the league next Sunday. body check tags ::
