Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has been charged with violent conduct by the Football Association following his clash with West Ham United's Winston Reid at the weekend.
Schweinsteiger directed his forearm at Reid in an incident which took place in the first half of Saturday's goalless draw between the two sides at Old Trafford.
The officials did not see the clash between the two players, but an FA panel has decided to charge the German, who has until noon on Thursday to respond.
If found guilty, Schweinsteiger could be facing a three-game ban.
