Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has withdrawn from the England squad ahead of Sunday's World Cup qualifier against Slovakia after being rested from training today.
The 21-year-old, who spent around nine months on the sidelines after breaking his leg in two places almost a year ago, did not take part in today's session with the rest of his national teammates.
It was reported that manager Sam Allardyce did not include Shaw in training today as the Football Association is managing the footballer's workload.
Now, United have tweeted that Shaw has been granted permission to return to Old Trafford to train as a "precautionary measure".
The left-back, who missed Euro 2016 as he continued rehabilitation from his injury, has played in all of United's three Premier League games under manager Jose Mourinho this season.
