Netherlands international Kevin Strootman has revealed that Roma were the only club that showed a real desire to secure his services this summer.
The 23-year-old joined the Italian capital-based outfit from PSV Eindhoven last month, despite reported interest from Premier League champions Manchester United.
However, when asked by Gazzetta dello Sport if the Red Devils had made a bid for him, Strootman replied: "Did Manchester United and AC Milan want me? Only Roma came forward seriously for me and I liked their project. Rudi Garcia called me and convinced me to make the move, and I'm happy to be here."
Strootman found the net as his new club won 3-1 against the MLS All-Stars last week.
