Thomas Tuchel 'interested in Manchester United job'

Thomas Tuchel - who will leave Bayern Munich in the summer - is reportedly interested in becoming the manager of Manchester United.

Thomas Tuchel is reportedly interested in taking over the managerial position at Manchester United if Erik ten Hag leaves the role in the summer.

On the back of four potentially-decisive defeats in seven games, speculation started to persist that Tuchel may depart Bayern Munich with immediate effect.

Instead, the Bundesliga giants have announced that they will part company with the 50-year-old in the summer, seeking to avoid disruption at this stage of the season.

As it stands, Tuchel is focused on trying to chase down the eight-point gap to top-flight leaders Bayer Leverkusen and overturn a 1-0 deficit to Lazio in the Champions League last 16.

Nevertheless, there is already talk over Tuchel's next move, with a recent report indicating that his preference is a return to the Premier League where he has previously won a Champions League trophy with Chelsea.

With the Liverpool position becoming vacant at the end of the season and David Moyes having just over four months left on his West Ham United contract, they are theoretically the most likely destinations for Tuchel should he move back to England.

However, according to Sky Sport Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg, who was commenting on X, Tuchel is keeping his eye on any developments at Man United.

Although Erik ten Hag is currently spearheading a revival of sorts, with United winning four Premier League games in succession, his position in the long term remains under threat.

United may have to qualify for the Champions League in order for the Dutchman to convince new minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe that he deserves a third season at Old Trafford.

Right now, such discussions are unlikely to take place, with United producing their best form of the season as they bid to close the five-point gap to fourth-placed Aston Villa in the Premier League table.

That said, it is claimed that Tuchel "can imagine himself" managing Man United in the future, his reputation still high despite his indifferent stint at the Allianz Arena.

In 63 matches in the Premier League at Chelsea, Tuchel collected 122 points and suffered just 11 defeats; by comparison, Ten Hag has accumulated 119 points from the same amount of fixtures at United, albeit with 18 losses and conceding 77 goals.

Plettenburg adds that Tuchel also remains an option for Barcelona, who are currently contemplating who to identify as their priority target to replace Xavi. body check tags ::
