Manchester United have reportedly become desperate in their search for a new technical director, but are hoping to make an appointment in the next fortnight.
The Red Devils have been seeking the right candidate for the newly-created role for a number of months.
Club legend Rio Ferdinand revealed earlier this month that he has held talks with United over joining in the backroom position, while Darren Fletcher is also believed to have been contacted.
According to The Sun, United's long-running search will come to an end before they jet off for their pre-season tour of Australia on July 8.
Whoever is appointed will be tasked with helping to complete transfers, while also working with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to pinpoint future targets.
