Louis van Gaal does not believe that Manchester United have lined up Jose Mourinho to replace him in the Old Trafford dugout.
Numerous reports over the last 24 hours have claimed that Mourinho, who was sacked by Chelsea in December, is increasingly confident that he will be United manager from the start of next season.
However, having had to deal with his position being under scrutiny for a number of weeks, Van Gaal has dismissed the suggestion that United and the 53-year-old Portuguese coach have been having discussions behind his back.
"When there is such nonsense written about me, I cannot believe there is already a relationship between Jose Mourinho and United," the current boss told reporters.
Today, Van Gaal's men will take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
