Robin van Persie has insisted that he will not act differently in his new role as Netherlands captain.
The Manchester United forward, who replaced Wesley Sneijder as his country's skipper earlier this summer, will wear the armband in Wednesday's international friendly with Portugal.
"I feel really honoured and I'm very proud of it. I try to show everybody how I feel about being captain," Van Persie told OnsOranje.
"Having said that, though, I have to stay true to myself as well. I will not start to behave differently all of a sudden because I'm skipper now."
Van Persie, 30, has scored 35 goals in 76 games for his country.
