Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar has claimed that Manchester United were not one of the teams that made a move for his services in the summer transfer window.
United were strongly linked with a move for the centre-back in August, but Vlaar has insisted that he "never heard anything" from Old Trafford.
"There was interest [after the World Cup], but never from the calibre clubs I would leave Aston Villa for," he told Algemeen Dagblad.
"Manchester United? I've never heard anything from them. If a club had been seriously interested I would have noticed. That hasn't been the case."
Vlaar played under now United boss Louis van Gaal for the Netherlands at the 2014 World Cup, where his performances attracted a host of interest.
