Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck reveals that his move from Manchester United was in his best interests as he found life difficult at Old Trafford playing out of position.

Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck has admitted that he wasn't satisfied with his role at Manchester United before his move to the Gunners.

The 23-year-old was often played out of position with the Red Devils under David Moyes last season as he featured on the left wing rather than as a central forward in their 4-4-2 system.

Welbeck feels that it was in his best interests to leave Old Trafford to join Arsene Wenger's men when he was given the opportunity on deadline day in August.

He told the club's official website: "When you've been somewhere for so long and then you're going to start a new chapter in your career, you've got to think about it a lot.

"Over the past year or so, I started to think about what's best for me because at the time I was playing on the left wing a lot and in a 4–4-2, which is very difficult for me because I can't make an impact on the game.

"You start to have thoughts but at that time you're still going to training and I was still giving 100% and giving my all in every single game – that's just me, I'm not going to change that. But you do start to think about what's best for you."

Welbeck has scored five goals in all competitions for the Gunners since his move from United.
