Liverpool sent more records tumbling on their relentless procession towards a 19th title this weekend, beating Southampton 4-0 on Saturday to open up an unprecedented 22-point lead at the top of the table.
It is the biggest advantage any English top-flight team has ever had at the end of the day, and it remained intact at the end of the weekend too as 10-man Manchester City fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur.
That result saw Spurs close the gap on the Champions League places after Leicester City and Chelsea had played out a 2-2 draw in the battle between third and fourth, while Sheffield United are now next in line courtesy of their win over Crystal Palace.

VAR threatened to steal the show at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium when a penalty was awarded two minutes after the incident, only for Hugo Lloris to keep out Ilkay Gundogan's spot kick. The Spurs skipper was then spared by the video assistant amid calls for another penalty seconds later, and those incidents proved crucial to Tottenham going on to get the win.
The penalty save was one of five stops made by Lloris en route to a clean sheet, which is enough for him to beat Tim Krul to a place in this week's XI.
In front of him is the rarity of a centre-back partnership made up of players who both scored braces this weekend. Antonio Rudiger's two headers earned Chelsea a point at Leicester, while Yerry Mina scored his two goals in first-half stoppage time to spark a dramatic Everton comeback which eventually saw them net a last-minute winner.

Bournemouth's win lifted them ahead of West Ham, but that could have been different had the Hammers held on to their two-goal lead. The collapse came in spite of the best efforts of Robert Snodgrass, though, with the winger creating the first goal before scoring twice himself.
Spurs debutant Steven Bergwijn, Son Heung-min, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ryan Fraser were all in contention in the wide positions, while the number 10 role had plenty of competition too with Pascal Gross, Giovani Lo Celso and Youri Tielemans considered.
However, Mason Mount's two assists for Chelsea against Leicester earn him the nod in the front three alongside Mohamed Salah, who added two more goals to his tally to round off a second-half rout at Anfield.
