Marouane Fellaini, Romelu Lukaku and Scott McTominay score the goals as Manchester United record a 3-0 win over Valerenga Fotball in Oslo.

Marouane Fellaini, Romelu Lukaku and Scott McTominay scored the goals as Manchester United recorded a 3-0 win over Norwegian outfit Valerenga Fotball in their penultimate pre-season friendly in Oslo on Sunday night.

Fellaini headed United into a first-half lead, before Lukaku and McTominay came off the bench to register during a comfortable 90 minutes for the 20-time English champions.

Juan Mata recovered from a slight injury to start for United, while there were also spots in the team for Michael Carrick, Fellaini and Sergio Romero.

As for Valerenga, on-loan Manchester City midfielder Ernest Agyiri was selected for the hosts, while there were also starts for David Fredheim Holm, Chidera Ejuke and Bard Finne as head coach Ronny Deila selected an attacking XI.

Man United had a super chance to take the lead inside the first two minutes when Henrikh Mkhitaryan broke into the Valerenga box after some questionable defending from the home side, but the Armenian could not find a route past Ghanaian goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey, who made a smart save.

Pogba was next to come close for the visitors in the 14th minute after curling a beautiful strike towards the top corner, but the Frenchman's effort struck the inside of the post as Valerenga survived another dangerous moment.

Rashford and Mkhitaryan also both had decent shots for in the opening 30 minutes of football, but the score remained goalless as Valerenga managed to defend their lines on a number of occasions. That said, the Norwegian side hardly ventured into their opponents' half during the first period.

Daley Blind had Man United's next chance in the 39th minute after meeting a low cross from Mkhitaryan, but the Dutchman's flick dropped just wide of the far post.

The Red Devils finished the half strongly, and the breakthrough came in the 44th minute when Fellaini, who has been strongly linked with a move to Galatasaray over the last 24 hours, rose to head a Mkhitaryan cross into the back of the net, albeit with the help of a deflection off Jonatan Tollas.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Axel Tuanzebe, Andreas Pereira and Demetri Mitchell all came off the bench at the interval, with Mourinho switching from a four-man defence to a back three. Summer signings Victor Lindelof and Lukaku, meanwhile, were also introduced for the Red Devils.

It did not take long for Lukaku to make an impression, with the Belgian grabbing his third pre-season goal in the 47th minute after rising at the near post to place a thumping header into the back of the net.

Anthony Martial might have made it 3-0 in the 52nd minute after meeting a brilliant cross from Fosu-Mensah, but the Frenchman could only head over the crossbar during a spell of sustained pressure from the Red Devils.

McTominay and Joel Pereira came off the Man United bench just past the hour as Mourinho fully utilised his squad ahead of the new campaign.

Valerenga should have got their name on the scoresheet in the 64th minute when 22-year-old Ghayas Zahid found all sorts of space inside the Man United box, but the number 10 somehow missed the crossbar.

Instead, it was Man United that registered the game's third goal in the 70th minute when young midfielder McTominay used his strength to wriggle free inside the Valerenga box before lifting the ball into the far corner of the net.

McTominay might have doubled his tally for the night 10 minutes from time after a mistake from substitute goalkeeper Marcus Sandberg, but Valerenga centre-back Tollas was back to clear off the line.

The 20-time English champions could have scored five or six during what was a routine night in Oslo, but 3-0 was how it finished as Valerenga were eventually given some respite.

Next up for Man United is a friendly against Italian side Sampdoria in Dublin on Wednesday night, while Valerenga will resume their domestic season with a trip to Stromsgodset on August 7.
