Team News: Marouane Fellaini returns to Manchester United midfield

Marouane Fellaini returns to Manchester United's starting lineup in one of two changes for the trip to take on Liverpool, while the Reds also make two alterations.

Marouane Fellaini has been handed a starting role for Manchester United in this evening's Premier League meeting with Liverpool at Anfield.

The Belgium international has not featured for the Red Devils since last month, but he is preferred to Juan Mata in midfield with Ander Herrera likely to start higher up the pitch.

Ashley Young is the other player to come in from the 1-1 draw against Stoke City last time out, with Jesse Lingard dropping down to the bench in what appears to be a 4-3-3 formation spearheaded by Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The hosts have made a couple of changes of their own, meanwhile, as Daniel Sturridge and Emre Can have both been recalled to the starting lineup - the latter featuring from the off for the first time this term.

Georginio Wijnaldum, injured on international duty with the Netherlands last week, misses out on the squad, while Adam Lallana is the other to make way despite being deemed fit enough for a place among the subs.

Victory this evening for Liverpool, who are looking to avoid three successive home defeats to their rivals for the first time since 2005, will lift them joint-top of the Premier League alongside Arsenal and Manchester City.

Liverpool: Karius, Clyne, Matip, Lovren, Milner, Henderson, Can, Coutinho, Firmino, Mane, Sturridge
Subs: Mignolet, Moreno, Klavan, Lucas, Grujic, Lallana, Origi

Manchester United: De Gea, Valencia, Bailly, Smalling, Blind, Fellaini, Pogba, Rashford, Herrera, Young, Ibrahimovic
Subs: Romero, Rojo, Shaw, Carrick, Lingard, Mata, Rooney
