Alexis Sanchez has reportedly turned down the opportunity to leave Manchester United for Roma.
The Red Devils were willing to pay a significant portion of the Chilean's £560,000-a-week wages in a loan deal with an option to buy, but the 30-year-old has opted against moving to Serie A.
According to The Sun, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is eager to get rid of Sanchez, who is proving difficult to sell because of his astronomical earnings.
As well as the player's wages, United are also required to pay agent Fernando Felicevich £5m over the course of the contract.
Sanchez has scored just three Premier League goals since swapping the Emirates for Old Trafford 18 months ago, with the last of those coming against Newcastle United in October 2018.
Manchester United travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night, with Sanchez very unlikely to feature.
