Arsenal are on course to complete the signing of Saint-Etienne defender William Saliba before the end of the month, according to a report.
The Gunners are believed to have been asked to pay €30m (£27m) for the 18-year-old's signature, which they are happy to do.
However, reports emerged earlier this week suggesting that the French side wanted Saliba back on loan for 12 months - something Unai Emery was initially against.
Le10 Sport has indicated that talks are still progressing behind the scenes, though, and Arsenal remain the side out in front to bring the France Under-19s international to the Premier League.
Emery's side could finalise their first piece of summer business in the next few weeks, it is claimed, although late competition may yet be provided by Manchester United.
