Bayern Munich have reportedly held fresh contract talks with Leroy Sane amid transfer links with Arsenal and Manchester United.
The winger faces an uncertain future at the Allianz Arena, with his current contract set to expire at the end of the season.
Arsenal have been linked with a potential move to reunite Sane with Mikel Arteta after the two previously worked together at Manchester City.
Man United are regarded as another contender for Sane's signature despite the fact that he previously played for their local rivals.
Arsenal, Man United suffer Sane setback
While he continues to be linked with a Premier League return, there is still the very real possibility that Sane could extend his deal beyond the end of the season.
According to journalist Florian Plettenburg, the German giants have held fresh talks with Sane over a new deal to keep him at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern's director of sport Max Eberl appears to be leading the efforts to tie Sane down to a new deal, although there is still 'a long way to go' in discussions.
The club are looking to negotiate a deal which would see Sane take a pay cut but receive an increase in performance-related bonus.
Could Sane still leave in January?
The latest update suggests it may prove tricky for one of Sane's potential Premier League suitors to secure his signature in 2025.
However, the likes of Arsenal and Man United should not lose hope, especially as a final decision on Sane's Bayern future will not be made until March.
As a result, the Bavarians will consider a potential January sale if they receive 'top offers' for Sane in the new year.
For the time being, Sane is focused on helping Vincent Kompany's side despite finding starting opportunities hard to come by.
The 28-year-old has started just four of his 14 competitive appearances this season, although he was given the chance to play from the first whistle in Saturday's draw with rivals Borussia Dortmund.
The former Man City man will hope to play an important role when Bayern take on Bayer Leverkusen in the last 16 of the DFB-Pokal on Tuesday. body check tags ::
