Arsenal have reportedly offered Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves a five-year contract to make a summer switch to the Emirates.
The Gunners have already waved goodbye to Matteo Guendouzi in the current transfer window, while Granit Xhaka is thought to be on the verge of a move to Roma.
As a result, Mikel Arteta is thought to be prioritising a new central midfielder for the upcoming season, and the Gunners are supposedly closing in on a deal for Anderlecht's Albert Sambi Lokonga.
However, journalist Nicolo Schira claims that Arsenal and Wolves are now in talks over a deal for Neves, and Arteta's side have tabled a five-year contract offer as negotiations progress.
Wolves can afford to play hardball with Neves's contract not due to expire until 2024, though, and Manchester United continue to be credited with an interest in the 24-year-old's services.
Neves boasts a total of 20 goals and 10 assists in 176 appearances for Wolves, but he only played 17 minutes for Portugal at Euro 2020. body check tags ::
