Atletico Madrid are reportedly keen to sign Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood on a permanent basis during this summer's transfer window.
The 22-year-old was informed by the Red Devils last summer that his time at the club was over, and he subsequently made a loan move to La Liga outfit Getafe.
Greenwood has been in impressive form for the Spanish side this season, scoring seven goals and registering four assists in 22 appearances in all competitions.
As it stands, the Englishman will return to Man United this summer, with his contract at Old Trafford due to run until the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
There have been suggestions that there could be a route for him back into the Red Devils squad, although it is still believed that the club are planning to sell him in the upcoming market.
Barcelona are thought to be the favourites, with the Catalan outfit lining up a move, and it has been claimed that Greenwood 'dreams' of representing the current La Liga champions.
Getafe have expressed a desire to sign him permanently, but the club are unlikely to be in a financial position to do a deal, while Real Sociedad and Valencia are also believed to be monitoring the developments.
According to The Telegraph, Atletico have placed Greenwood on their shortlist for the summer, with Diego Simeone's side preparing to sign at least one forward.
The report claims that Barcelona's financial problems could yet prevent them from signing him, potentially opening the door for Atletico to move to the head of the queue, should Greenwood express a desire to remain in Spain, where he is believed to have settled alongside his family.
In January 2022, following accusations from a woman, Greenwood was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault, and he was then further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.
Greenwood was also facing charges of attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, but the case against him was dropped last February.
Man United are believed to have initially decided to bring Greenwood back into their squad for the 2023-24 campaign but were forced into a U-turn due to the public backlash.
The forward has scored 35 goals and registered 12 assists in 129 matches for his parent club in all competitions, with his last appearance for them coming against West Ham United in January 2022.
