Barcelona will reportedly meet with Manchester United officials in the coming days to discuss a possible deal for Edinson Cavani.
The Spanish giants are understood to have identified Cavani as a replacement for Sergio Aguero, who was forced to retire from football this week due to a heart condition.
Reports have suggested that Barca have already been in touch with the 34-year-old, and that he has accepted a lucrative contract offer to move to Camp Nou in January.
However, talks are yet to take place between the two clubs regarding a transfer fee, and Sport claims that those are due to commence in "the next few days".
The report also claims that Barcelona are keen to assess how Cavani has recovered from his recent Achilles injury before finalising any deal.
The Uruguayan had been due to return to action this week, but Manchester United have seen their last two games postponed due to coronavirus outbreaks.
Barcelona have also been strongly linked with a move for Manchester City's Ferran Torres, but view Cavani as a cheaper alternative amid their dire financial plight.
Man United, meanwhile, are open to shifting Cavani's wages from their bill six months early, with his current deal due to expire at the end of the season.
Cavani has been limited to just two Premier League starts for the Red Devils so far this season, and has made only eight appearances across all competitions. body check tags ::
