Bayern Munich are reportedly preparing to place an £80m offer on the table for Harry Kane in the hope of convincing Tottenham Hotspur to sell the centre-forward.
The 29-year-old's future remains the subject of much speculation, with his contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium only having 12 months left to run.
Real Madrid and Manchester United have both been heavily linked with the England captain this summer, but the former appear to have now cooled their interest, while the latter are not hopeful of convincing Spurs chairman Daniel Levy to sell to a Premier League rival.
Bayern have emerged as genuine candidates for the forward, with the Bundesliga champions said to have had a £60.2m offer for his services rejected earlier this week.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, the Munich giants are still hopeful of agreeing a transfer fee with Tottenham and are now planning to raise their offer to around £80m.
Jacobs, though, claims that Tottenham are still preparing to reject any offers that arrive despite the fact that the forward could leave on a free transfer next summer.
Bayern decided against signing a replacement for Robert Lewandowski during last summer's transfer window, but they are planning to bring in a centre-forward in the current market.
Eintracht Frankfurt's Randal Kolo Muani is also thought to be on their radar, but Kane is said to be the club's leading target, and they are now seriously exploring bringing him to Munich.
The Englishman was again in excellent form for Tottenham last season, finding the back of the net on 32 occasions in 49 appearances in all competitions, in addition to contributing five assists.
Kane scored 30 Premier League goals last season, but Spurs finished down in eighth position in the table, meaning that there will be no European football at the club next term.
The forward is the club's all-time leading goalscorer with 280, while he is chasing down Alan Shearer's Premier League scoring record of 260, with the England captain currently on 213 in the top flight.
There have been suggestions that Man United are Kane's preferred choice this summer, with the forward keen to become the all-time leading goalscorer in the Premier League.
However, the Red Devils are believed to be pursuing other targets at this stage, as they are wary of entering into a long transfer saga involving the centre-forward.
Despite his impressive record in the league last season, Kane only managed one goal in eight Champions League outings, with Spurs eliminated in the last-16 stage of the competition. body check tags ::
