Bayern Munich are reportedly eager to use Manchester United's supposed interest in their midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger to sign Angel di Maria.
Argentina international Di Maria joined the Red Devils from Real Madrid last summer in a deal worth almost £60m, but despite an initial positive start to life at Old Trafford, he struggled for form and fitness, which resulted in him spending the latter part of the season among the substitutes.
His situation has attracted the attention of Bayern head coach Pep Guardiola, who is said to be keen to add more pace to his squad at the Allianz Arena this summer.
Meanwhile, United manager Louis van Gaal has made Schweinsteiger one of his major transfer targets and consequently, the Bavarians are open to the prospect of a swap deal, according to Bild.
The report adds that the Red Devils also harbour an interest in Bayern attacker Thomas Muller.
